Founder: Imen Bousnina 🇦🇹 🇹🇳
Imen Bousnina is a 27-year-old fashion designer born and raised in Vienna, Austria. Her parents are from Tunisia in North Africa. Although Imen grew up in Vienna, her Tunisian roots play a vital role in her life and designs. From time to time, Tunisian culture acts as an inspiration behind her designs and can be seen through Imen’s use of color combinations, cuts, and fabrics.
"It is very important for me to recognize my origins in my designs." (Imen)
At a young age, Imen was drawn to colors, designs, and art. She knew she wanted to be an artist or creator of some sort. Later down the road, when Imen became interested in clothes, she narrowed her creative passions to fashion design. She now has diplomas in fashion design and fashion & textile.
Imen Bousnina is a sustainable modest womenswear brand founded in 2019. Imen began her brand when she saw an issue with the lack of fashionable products for headscarf wearers. When Imen first started wearing a headscarf, she found it difficult to dress both fashionably and modestly. She was not the only one that felt this way. She initiated the change in the fashion industry that she had wanted to see.
“You don’t have to show skin if you want to be fashionable.” (Imen)
Through her designs, Imen hopes to show the world that it is possible to be both fashionable and modest.
“Modest fashion isn’t a contradiction to modern fashion. Modesty is about an attitude, it is all-inclusive to any woman from any faith, background, or age who chooses to take a stand in how they present themselves.” (Imen)
Currently, Imen is working on an ongoing collection based on her journey to self-love. She creates garments for women who know that “clothes are just a tool to underline your self-confidence”. She continues to showcase her designs at international fashion shows and exhibitions. Check out some of her designs at www.imenbousnina.com.
